ASP-BP
ASP-BP is an European framework which groups and manages
6 projects focused on ASP technology-based applications
in different industrial field.
It groups 30 partners from 9 different European countries,
with the aim of demonstrating the business benefits of
ASP Technology in a variety of industrial sectors.
Application
Service Provision: benefits of a new approach
ASP utilises web-technologies to allow software
applications to be delivered as a service. It
provides a rental model, under which you can
access software which is held on a remote machine, without
any of the technical and financial resources typically
required to install and maintain an IT system.
For the end users, this delivery model minimises
the expenses and risks incurring across the application
life cycle, and overcomes the lack of qualified technical
personnel available in-house. The ASP approach allows
end-user companies to access business-critical applications
in a cost-effective, scalable, and risk-reducing manner.
End user benefits include:
- Reduction of fixed costs:
ASP pay-per-use model enables companies to reduce
fixed costs:
- lowering overall expenditure for hardware and
applications, while avoiding upgrade and maintenance
costs (that are on the provider side);
- allowing to adopt a "pay per use" approach instead
of buying costly licences
- Flexibility of use:
The applications are delivered anywhere and at any
time that the business requires, all is needed is
an Internet access. Easy to use interfaces guarantee
access to complex applications also to non skilled
people thus avoiding the need to hire skilled personnel
by user companies.
- Reliability of the service:
The applications are managed remotely by their providers,
guaranteeing up to date versions and remote technical
assistance.
- Reduction of innovation risk:
With no capital spending on software, hardware and
IT personnel, organisations can test a new technology
with minimal impact to their existing environment.
For the ASP providers, the adoption of the ASP
approach can help to:
- Increase the market size:
Software service companies can open the usage of their
products also to small companies that were not able
to buy costly yearly licences.
- Provide new services:
The creation of on-line support services for ASP users
help the technology providers to create a better trust
in their clients thus creating a fidelity process
that is vital in the life of a selling company

STEDI - Buildings thermal behaviour is no longer a clue
|
 |
The AEC sector (Architects, Engineers and Constructors sector) is one of the main energy spenders sectors in Europe. One of the main reasons is the lack of use by the AEC professionals of the appropriate software tools to design more bioclimatic constructions because of the high prices of the existing tools and the need of having specialized professionals to use them.
STEDI is an ASP service which provides the AEC sector access to sophisticated IT tools to simulate the thermal behaviour of designed buildings without the need to purchase expensive software or maintaining a technical staff for using it.
The presence of an easy to use interface gives the AEC professionals the possibility to access complex simulation tools without the need of specific SW engineering skills. Thanks to this approach the professionals will be able to design more energetically efficient buildings creating at the same time an added value for their projects.
By using STEDI service the AEC professionals will be able to:
- Access complex engineering tools at low cost
- Reduce software usage costs ( no maintenance, no licensing, no update,...),
- Reduce technology investment risk (renting software instead of buying it)
- Avoid the need to hire specialised personnel for software usage (thanks to user friendly interfaces)
